Dusty Richards
In 1992, Dusty's first novel Noble's Way was published. Since then, he has over 100 books in print. His novels, The Natural and The Abilene Trail won the Oklahoma Federation Fiction Book of the Year Award two years in a row. He is also the only western writer to win two Spur Award in the same year. He has hundreds of articles in print. Dusty was inducted into the Arkansas Writers' Hall of Fame in 2004. He was also honored to win the American Cowboy Culture Award in 2005.
Dusty invests a lot of time helping new writers, and as the editor of The Storyteller likes to tell him-he badgers, bullies, pushes, and nags writers into fine tuning their work to get it out to magazines and agents. And there are many, many writers who are grateful that he did. Dusty gives of his time, attention and knowledge and and a better mentor couldn't be found. His column appears quarterly in The Storyteller.
He serves on the boards of Ozarks Writers League, Ozark Creative Writers, Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc., Rodeo of the Ozarks, and the Ozarks Electric Co-op and is a member of Western Writers of America, and an honorary life-time member of OWFI.
Watch for his latest books: The Horse Creek Incident, The Sharkey School House Lynching, and The Trail to Newton. His "Writing the West," instructional book is now available.
Dusty Richards won TWO Spur Awards in 2007. One for his paperback novel, The Horse Creek Incident and the other for his short story, Comanche Moon. Congratulations, Dusty!
Dusty is also the Articles Director for The Storyteller. And no matter how busy Dusty is--he always takes the time to help new writers. Thank goodness there are people like Dusty or some of us "new" kids wouldn't make it.

Bryan Byrd
Bryan has been writing for a number of years and has completed two novels. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and won other awards. A former marine, that, surprisingly doesn't take himself or anyone else too seriously, Bryan looks for the unusual, mundane, and general silliness of life. Not to say he doesn't take life seriously, he just doesn't let it get in his way. Bryan now works on the riverboats on the Mississippi River.
